Welcome to Studio Vault, established in 2015.
Located in the picturesque North Yorkshire Town Settle, where Emily grew up. An independant gallery specialising in Contemporary Craft; Jewellery, Ceramics, Textiles, Woodwork and Fine Art and an on sight Jewellery studio for Emily Knight.
I have always had an interest in Craft from a young age, my parents are both artists Margaret Uttley and David Knight and my childhood was spent visiting galleries and engaging with the world in a visual way. After finishing my degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing at the Glasgow School of Art in 2011, the concept of engaging a consumer with the importance and story behind craft has always intrigued me. My making background allows me to have an insight into the making process behind each item that we sell which I can communicate to the client. Also offering workshops throughout the year where clients can experience an insight behind the making process for themselves. Bespoke commission's are an important aspect behind the business, which has become the catalyst in organising meet the maker events. Offering clients a personal experience with the maker and the chance to discuss commission's, whether this is regarding remodelling inherited jewellery, giving a piece a new lease of life, or discussing interior's of an individuals home to create statement objects.
Our aim is to create a welcoming cohesive space, which we achieve by curating exhibitions every three months. New makers are showcased with an importance behind discovering emerging makers and showing there work alongside established makers. We are surrounded by a rural landscape and this is my main inspiration behind each exhibition I carefully curate.
